Rhythm for a tall volume
The building stands among dense city blocks, and its large volume had to be broken down so that the facade would not look monotonous, either from a distance or from the pavement.
The top of the tower and its base at street level needed to be marked out as well.
Graphite, colour and a glass top
The facade is based on graphite panels and dark-framed windows. Between the windows run vertical inserts in yellow, orange, terracotta and olive; each spans two floors, and the horizontal bands between them divide the facade into large cells.
The four upper floors have continuous ribbon glazing under a parapet of grey panels with a brown wood-effect soffit. Dark vertical grilles sit between the windows, and the glazed lower floors form a transparent base.
Neighbouring buildings are shown as translucent volumes to show how the tower fits into the block. Trees and street lamps line the pavement, and the evening sun catches the coloured inserts and glows in the windows.
