Task

A playroom and nap room for a group

To furnish a kindergarten playroom with tables for activities, a place for the teacher and storage for toys and books, plus a nap room with beds for the daytime rest.

The nap room had to be visible from the playroom, and the palette had to stay calm, so that both rooms would be easy to play and rest in.

Solution

Sage, wood and a forest

Arches in sage green and pale timber slats line one wall of the playroom, with open shelves decorated with stars and a round nook with cushions between them. Timber slats clad the lower walls, a pale rug with a soft blue pattern covers the floor, and the white tables have small chairs with bear and bunny ears. The teacher's desk and armchair stand by the window, with a TV on the wall.

The nap room is visible from the playroom through interior windows. Its walls are papered with a forest of bears, fawns and foxes, and soft grey beds with high sides, pink cushions and throws stand in rows.
